More lies. This is news?

"I think there's some serial numbers," he says. "There may be some markings [that point to Iran -ed.] on some of the projectile fragments that we found...'' according to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.

Here's the story in full. Note carefully that while Gates admits that there is no actual evidence for Iranian involvement in the Iraqi resistance to American occupation, this admission is quietly, rhetorically, buried beneath assertions to the opposite effect.

This is typical Bushcheney administration shuffle. Expect more "evidence" like this to surface over the course of this spring/summer, while the administration continues to deny that they are preparing for more war. Fall and winter of '07 will see faltering, half-hearted attempts at diplomacy, but I predict that we will be at war with Iran by next spring. This will give the Bushcheney administration an excuse to postpone or cancel the '08 elections.

In other news: What was that about "winning the cold war"? Pootie-Poot has other ideas.
